WIP – blanket for J

I saw this blanket (on Pinterest, of course) and wanted to recreate it for J. Since finishing my rainbow stripe blanket  I feel like tackling a smaller blanket is no biggie…I figured I’d be able to finish this by the end of the summer.
The good news is I’m close! This is my last official day of summer and all I have left to do is join a couple of rows horizontally (you’ll see what I mean in the picture below) and put on a border. This yarn is a bit on the thick side…I think this will be quite warm. I have to say, I don’t like it quite as much as the Stylecraft DK. I picked it up before our road trip because my yarn for my niece’s blanket hadn’t arrived yet and I needed something to work on!

It’s Nearly Fall

Pretty soon I’ll be shifting gears and making some flannel scarves. Meanwhile, though, it’s still quite summery here and it’s not time yet to break out the sweaters and boots.

This scarf – birds on a navy blue background – can be found here.

This scarf, made with vintage fabric with a yellow rose print, can be found here.

Today’s Agenda

I threw some material in the wash last night (I *may* have bought a *few* things) thinking I’d get a couple of scarves made today. Unfortunately I didn’t remember that I have an all-day meeting at work. Le sigh. First world problems, right?
Here’s what I found yesterday…

Not pictured above is the material I’m starting with…

It may be difficult to tell from the picture, but those giraffes are a dark chocolate brown.
I’ll need to piece it together a bit, but I’m also going to be working with the vintage yellow roses fabric I got over the summer.
Here’s hoping for an easy kid bedtime so I can get crafting!

Better Late Than Never

This post, I mean. My niece is still percolating, so the blanket isn’t late!
I usually post on Monday mornings, but as of this past Monday morning I was thisclose to finishing the blanket I’ve been working on. I figured I’d post a day late, show y’all this lovely blanket, and everyone would be happy. Except yesterday was Crazy Town around here, so here we are on Wednesday. But! It’s finished!

Here’s a close up of the border…

And the whole thing once more…I think the indoor diffuse lighting is giving a more accurate idea of the colors. The midday sun is pretty bright today!

I can’t wait to meet my niece! I hope she’ll be snuggling under this blanket until it’s far too small for her.

WIP (still)

Soooo close! I’m on the last color of this blanket I’m making for my niece. She’s due in about 3 weeks (and will likely be here a bit early)…I’ll be finishing right on time! I’ve been weaving in ends as I go; it’s my least favorite chore and I didn’t want to end up with hundreds to do all at once. Once I get the light pink stripes finished all that will be left is a border.

I usually crochet while the kids are resting…today I have a different project to work on. Last night we painted the bathroom ceiling and today I need to paint the walls. Good times.

Sorry, lovely blanket, you’ll have to wait!
